Anvard Half-buried in snow, the immense castle-city of Anvard is the closest human settlement to the White Witch's frozen mainland territory, apart from Galma. Built on the slopes of gigantic mountains, Anvard is the capital of Archenland. Its knights are few but skilled; its location, squarely between two imperialist powers, is not ideal. Archenlander warriors favor straight swords and furred steel armor. Stormness Head A major mountain peak at the eastern end of Archenland, Stormness Head shelters a fortified town of the same name. The pass could provide access to both the Witch's Narnia and the Calormene Empire; as such, it is one of Archenland's most crucial outposts. Telmarene Pass The Telmarene Pass, at the west end of Archenland, leads into the land of Telmar, a desolate former Calormen colony plagued by ferocious non-sentient animals. Mount Pire and Olvin Town Centuries ago, the Archenlander hero-king Olvin slew the two-headed giant named Pire and won the hand of the Lady Liln. Whether the giant was already stone, or was somehow transformed when slain, is not known, though some speculate darkly that the tale of Olvin was designed to cover up an early appearance of the White Witch. In either case, the twin peaks of Mount Pire overlook the small fortress-town of Olvin, which guards a pass into the Great Canyon and the Calormen Desert.

Tashbaan The world's greatest center of education, innovation, and culture, Tashbaan is located on a river delta south of the Great Desert. Key points include the Palace of the Tisroc and the Great Temple of Tash, Tash being the four-armed, vulture-headed god of the Calormenes. Tashbaan is a major military power, but even the Tisroc fears to challenge the White Witch in her own territory. Azim Balda A major administrative hub for the Calormene Empire, Azim Balda grew from a simple crossroads to become the foundation of the most advanced courier system in the world. Tehishbaan A city in northwestern Calormen, nestled up against the mountains of Archenland and the headwaters of the Winding Arrow River. Tehishbaan is a known destination for escaped slaves, does significant trade with Archenland, and sends frequent hunting expeditions into Telmar. Though the Great Desert separates Tehishbaan from the capital, it remains orthodox in worship of Tash and loyal to the Tisroc. Note: The Lone Islands are also part of the Calormene Empire.
